Journaling Habit Tracker
A journaling habit sticks best when it is short, daily and in the same place. HabitLine has a built-in journal, so you can add a daily "Journal" habit with an evening reminder and write the entry in the same app.

How to track journaling in HabitLine
- Create a habit and choose Build as its type, then give it an icon, colour and category.
- Set the frequency to Daily.
- Turn on a reminder for evening, after dinner or before bed.
- Set a goal duration: 30 days.
- Add rules: “Three lines is enough”, “Write what happened, then one thing to change”.
- Mark each scheduled day as done, skipped or failed, and watch the streak in Statistics.
Why track journaling?
Most journaling habits fail on friction: finding the notebook or opening another app. Keeping the habit and the journal together removes that step.
Tips that help
- Make a journal folder for daily entries and another for weekly reviews.
- Use a simple prompt: what went well, what did not, what next.
- Look at your habit statistics during weekly reviews and write about the patterns.
- Free accounts include 5 journal entries; Premium is unlimited.
Turn it into a goal
Create a goal called “Journal every day for a month”, link this habit to it and add milestones:
- Week 1
- Week 2
- Week 3
- Week 4
Log it in one click
HabitLine can start with Windows and stay in the tray, so marking the habit done is one click; a Stream Deck plugin is coming soon. The free plan covers up to 5 habits; Premium is unlimited.
Common questions
Does HabitLine have a journal?
Yes. It has journal folders and notes, plus quick notes, next to your habits and goals.
What should I write about?
Keep it simple: what happened, how you felt, and one thing to try tomorrow. Consistency matters more than length.
Is HabitLine free?
Yes. The free plan never expires and includes 5 habits, 3 goals, 3 tasks, 5 journal entries and 1 project. Premium removes those limits and adds the full calendar view for $4.99/month, $49.90/year or $149 once.
Do I need an account to use HabitLine?
No. HabitLine runs in guest mode with your data stored locally on your PC. Signing in is optional and syncs your habits, goals, tasks and settings across your Windows PCs.
